How do I keep in touch with my cousin? Am I bothering her?

She's too shy to talk over the phone. My sister claims its because I call her too often. I think it could be because she's just shy. But I did talk to her over the phone many times, but suddenly she stopped. I would call her relatively often, but is that the reason? Also, would she be less shy talking over Facebook, especially if I give her some space? My other thought is that she's busy with schoolwork, and supplementary schoolwork, and clubs, because she goes to private school and her parents even disabled part of her facebook account during the school year. When i asked her mom if i call THEM during the summer while they are in turkey, she said yes I can call THEM, but I don't know if she was referring to my cousin. i never talk to my uncle, and he's the only other one i the family. So which is it, work, calling too often, or just being shy? And how do i keep in touch?

Without knowing her, we obviously have no way of knowing. But try this: The next time you communicate with her (however you do it) tell her she should call, text, or FB message you anytime, for any reason. Then (this part is important) do NOT call or message her back again UNTIL she initiates the communication. This way you'll know if she wants to be in contact with you or not.

Maybe it's calling too much and just overall obsession. This can also put your parents in an uncomfortable position. I'd really back off and chill about this for a while. Wait and see what your cousin does. Maybe she will get in touch with you or you will see each other at a family gathering and hit it off, but you have called enough. Leave her alone for now before you piss off her parents.
