I sometimes like to social network, but one thing I can't get over is the fact that my updates get no responses. I heard that it's a good idea to try and tailor your update for a specific type of response (as in a reaction, advice etc.). Do you think that can work?

You have stand out, be individualistic, without rocking the boat. People are a dime a dozen, really.

I wouldn't call attention to myself just to elicit a reaction.

If someone shows interest in something, I would try to pick out what aspects of that "something" interests you, and make use of it socially.

Start by responding to other peoples' statuses. This is a fine art. Disperse the comments very thinly. Dont respond to one person more than once a fortnight basically. Like some statuses that pertain to your interest and only respond to those which you have something genuinely relevant to contribute to. Youll find that those people (if they appreciate your input) will start liking your statuses which opens the door to you responding maybe once a week or so. That may get a dialogue going.

Plan it. Im serious. Keep a log of everyone youve liked etc. go about it like a science. Then publish your findings in a sociological journal :D

I would try it but don't do it in a way that looks like you're asking for attention.

I have this problem with people, though I don't make vague random posts that are hard to respond to and I still get no response.
