I am visiting a friend this week and will be staying over at his house. It'll be the very first time I stay over at someone's place OUTSIDE my family. The one concern I have is food. Is it necessary for me to buy a few things for myself to eat, or should I let the hosts provide food for me? What do you guys think???
If you both will be staying at his home, there will be food and he probably expects to provide for all your needs. But, it would also be nice to arrive with some "fun" food which he might not have planned for (such as microwave popcorn, ice cream or soda). You might also want to ask him if you should plan to eat dinner before arriving. If he replies that he was planning to have dinner ready for both of you, you might offer to bring a dessert and ask what he would like in that way.
