I'm 21 years old I'm not diagnosed with Aspergers or Autism but the doctors say that I'm on the spectrum, I'm actually diagnosed with NLD (Non Verbal Learning Disorder) which is very similar to Aspergers. My social skills are inept I have no clue how to interact with people and make friends, I've never had any friends and I never had a girlfriend I'm really lonely. I just have no clue what to say and when to say it, I don't know how to make friends. I've managed to self teach myself body language and non verbal queues through online research but there is no information anywhere about verbal communication. This problem prevents me from getting a job and working.

Where can I get professional help for my inept social skills? What kind of professional deals with social skills? I don't know who to see about it.

I'm in Orlando as well.

Go to UCF counseling center.

If you have an official diagnosis you can walk into the C.A.R.D. dept. who focus on ASD assistance for students, including social training.

If you do not, take advantage of UCF's free counseling center (if you're a UCF student). If not a student, go to the UCF community counseling center (behind parking lot A) where you can receive this same assistance except its on a waitlist.

There you can either get help directly or they can give you contact information for the specialist you may need.

I'm not a student. I'll consider it.

You can be part of their CARD program if you have an official diagnosis, I don't believe you need to be a UCF student for this.

The UCF counseling center is only for students. If you're not, the UCF Community Counseling center is open to non-students but on a waitlist.

Regardless, you can walk into any of those three and ask for resources and a list of specialists. They will provide it. Or call them or email them :)
