I work for a small software company. Out of about 10 people, there are only 3 that don't have some-sort of non-typical brain (I'm including OCD and ADHD here for purposes of non-typical). It's not exactly the most professional workplace. As you can imagine, there's all sorts of drama that stems from inappropriate, and often childish, behavior. It really hurts our business sometimes.

So if anyone is sitting there fantasizing about a workplace with a dearth of NTs, don't! :D I used to work for a large industry giant where everyone wore outfits right off the JCrew catalog cover, and mastered the art of strategic maneuvering. So I went from a company where I was the worst communicator, to one where I was the best. There's a lot that sucks about that.

On edit: I stuck this post in this forum, because a lot of work is about general social interaction, and communicating what you are doing, with the guy across the hall who is working on another piece of the project. And that's were a room filled with non-NTs utterly fail.

Great point. ASD, NT, whatever...people are still people, with their own egos and hangups. I spent 17 years in the service end of group medical insurance, and I used to wish that everyone else thought and communicated as I did. But lately I've realized (and this may sound heretical) that we ASDs often have our own ego agendas going (albeit not as well-concealed as an NT's). This made me re-think the idea that all would be perfect for me in an aspie workplace. I think human nature is all pretty much the same, no matter what our particular wiring.
