So I can't smile right at people. My brain can't process being that I'm autistic. f**k. I'm 27 now, and I can do body language, but not face. I want to communicate better, but it's a challenge. Is there any help on the internet that helps with this issue?

Well, I sure do wish I could help you, but as much as I attempt to make the correct faces after things, the only faces I seem to do correctly are when I'm laughing (often at the incorrect times) and my normal face, which people comment looks like "I'm terribly confused", "a serial killer", or "thinking very deeply about something.". I guess the last one would be correct, as I'm always thinking about something, and often deeply.

I would say that one way forward is to explain to people that you have difficulty in understanding their facial expressions. Then they might know why you might laugh, smile etc at seemingly inappropriate times in a conversation and they might be more accommodating of you.

Let's just say, I haven't learned how to look at people correctly. I had to avoid eye contact to avoid staring at others. With girls especially, I just do a nice head nod nowadays. It's when I look in the mirror, I can't make my facial expressions look real.

I learned mine through a probably excessive amount of TV shows, anime and manga. the expressions are always easier to read in anime and manga due to the exaggeration down play it a little and you can almost get it right. also hang out with drama students if you can, my sister almost has my expression fixed so that I can take a picture without looking drugged- she was in drama. also there's this TV show called "Lie to Me" I think its on amazon, it makes a good reference for facial expressions.

face is really hard.
especially smiles; research has shown that anyone (NT) can see the difference between a real and a fake smile before you are even done forming it.

i can recommend following some stage-acting classes. on stage, you have to have exaggerated facial expressions, so you can improve your mastery of them that way
