I will be making a post much later about social skills and making/keeping friends, but first, I wanted to if maybe there was someone online in the Spartanburg/Greenville, SC area who would like to hang out and discuss social issues. It would be nice to talk to someone else who has Aspergers and would like to talk about previous difficulties and things they have tried to successfully socialize with people. Email me at williamefisher293077@yahoo or respond on here. Let me know.

I hope you could find somebody in Greenville/Spartanburg.

I passed through Spartanburg twice--on I-85. At 2:00 in the morning one time, I got a ticket!

Seriously, you should converse with people here on OP on what you're interested in. Make threads about what you're interested in.

What are you interested in, anyway?

If it's anime or video games, you've definitely come to the right place! LOL

You should explore all the sub-forums here.

Yeah, those Upstate cops'll get you. LOL

Not really interested in anime, but I like video games (however, it's more old vintage ones that super Mario Brothers. LOL)

I'll check out the sunforums. BTW, is the guy in your profile Hank Mckoy from X-men in his human form?

LOL...I have no idea who that guy is. He looks a little like me, though.

When I was about your age, I became obsessed with Ms Pacman. Never did get above 100,000, though (even though I played almost every day for about a year. I used to play in Coney Island, New York).

There is a person named RetroGamer who posts here pretty frequently.

My interests are books (almost all kinds), TV shows, jogging, and fanfiction. I can get really into a TV show (Breaking Bad for instance). I also love Star Wars.

Google "Beast X-MEN Hank Mckoy" Don't put it in quotations. I think that's who that is.

I used to run marathons in the 1990s.

Now, my knees are pretty well shot. I've gotten into walking.

I tend to enjoy watching sports, documentaries, "real-life" (as opposed to "reality") programs, and old sitcoms.

Yeah, my knees have issues too. Honestly, I usually walk. I was also diagnosed with diabetes recently, so I have to walk every day.

I think Family Matters is my favorite old sitcom.

LOL...when I speak of old sitcoms, I speak of "I Dream of Jeannie," "Gilligan's Island," "Bewitched," and others from the 1960s.

I also liked "Barney Miller" and "Odd Couple" from the 70s and 80s.

"Family Matters" was cool, though. I used to watch it when I was in my 30's, though. I think of it as a "recent sitcom" LOL

Guess that makes me old :)

Hey I've watch those old ones as well. In fact, with Gilligan's Island, I recently watched the movie where they finally get off the island (you can find it on You tube). They expected there to be another season, so the actual series ended with the castaways still on the island.

I think they're doing a reboot of Odd Couple.

LOL...Let me be very honest.

There would be no show if Gilligan and his gang got off the island!

Just like I never liked it that Lois knew who Superman was.

It's almost like knowing there is no Santa Claus.

Well, the movies are pretty interesting. Have you ever seen them?

Yeah, GI had the inherent flaw of the audience rooted for them to get home, but if they did the series would be over.

Ever watch Lost?

I've only seen a few episodes of today's reality shows.

If I ever went on Jeopardy, I would be totally lost pertaining to shows from the 90's to the present.

I like "Big Bang Theory," though. Sheldon is a bad caricature of an Aspie, though.

Yes, I love BBT as well, but Sheldon grossly misrepresents the Aspergers community. To be fair, the producers of BBT have claimed he wasn't designed with Aspergers in mind (although, Jim Parsons admits he couldn't have more traits if he was). Their response is "Sheldon's mother never got a diagnosis, so we don't have one."

Still, with Sheldon, he is harsh to people and is very inconsiderate to others, while most Aspies bend over backwards to accomodate NTs. Also, people don't go out of there way to accomodate us, like they do with him. Amy is more of a typical Aspie.

I've never had the typical Aspergers trait of having to do a certain thing at a certain time, so I guess I can't relate to his incessant need to be in his spot. LOL

I thought there was some kind of competition in "Lost."

"Reality Shows" tend to show the "Social-Darwinist aspect of things.
