Pen pals are great ideas, but I have to imagine postage will be considerably expensive if we have to send it to Mars. :P

I thought your username showed you supported Vitoria Guimaraes from Portugal. :)

Brazil must be very hot this time of year.

Wow, that is hot. 8O

I do think, as one poster pointed out, that snail mail is less practical these days. I've never considered normal mail as a way of having friends. Maybe it's because our post office is always on strike!

I do miss the days of snail mail penpals, but they seem to have faded away with the Pony Express. The fun part was exchanging small tidbits with someone on the other side of the globe.

I feel more connected to people with mail, has been great having penpal friends, helps a little, and I like to check the personality by handwriting.

I had a snail mail pal for a little while, even shared common interests, but in the end not much came of it and it sorta fizzled away. I maintained e-mail contact with a couple other 'pen pal'-like folks on different sides of the globe, but after a couple weeks or months, it just died because of incompatibility. This is the fate of all my offline and online relationships.
