For a long time I have realized I can't really make jokes, I can't make people laugh even if my life depended on it. IRL I am an extremely serious kind of guy.

I would like to hear from others who are also unable to make people laugh.

yeah, usually it is the same for me. I'll say something I thought was funny, most of the time no reaction. Every so often I have my moments.

That, or it takes an...er...altered state of mind. That was the cause for such random phrases as "I don't have any more cheese for my frozen waffles." A couple people found that amusing. I just really wanted more processed cheese for my frozen waffles, wasn't trying to be funny at that point.

I manage to make some people laugh, it depends on their sense of humour. I tend to be mostly serious, but there is often some humourous image or joke running through my head that just doesn't make it beyond my head. My humour is actually very childish, so I suppose that is why many other adults do not find it funny. For example, I find the idea of letting off a really loud fart in a quiet art gallery amusing  especially if a serious arty type walked into the room as I was doing it. Not what you would expect a 31 year old female to find amusing, but tough luck lol. I often burst out laughing simply because a funny idea has run through my head, and people look at me as if I am mad.

Well, I make the funniest jokes in the world, but only my husband laughs at them. Everyone else laughs when I'm not joking. I think it's a "there she goes again" kind of thing for them.

Haha!! It's funny to me because I know those people who take art analysis really seriously. Seems like that might bring them back to earth.

Yup! I'm my own entertainment most of the time. No one else gets the joke.

Someone once asked me:
"Do you know any jokes."
I responded,
"No... I'm not a funny man."
And then everyone in the room (about 10 people) started laughing uncontrollably. To this day I do not understand why. But I didn't feel they were laughing at me, so I laughed with them and tried to play it off as intentional.

I am serious and often grave most of the time. I could probably count the times I've purposely succeeded in making people laugh on one hand. Most of the time when someone laughs at something I say, I'm not clear as to why it's funny.

I can identify with saying something not intended to be funny and people laughing...and I usually ask, 'Whats so funny?' as I don't understand it.

As to the farting in an art gallery... I sometimes get the impulse to do something outrageous just to see how people respond to it. And I have done a few outrageous things that normally I would be far too afraid to do! The more recent one was placing a remote controlled fart machine under the reduced section shelf in our local large food store and setting it off as people came to look lol.

I recently had pretty good expereinces making professors and other students laugh. Only during the course of a class, when I would blurt out a humorous rejoinder. Otherwise, other students didn't want to do anything with me.One professor woudln't even say bye to me after I repeatedly f*****g told her have a nice weekend. c**t.

I can make sick people (not physically sick) laugh easily. If a person doesn't have a sick sense of humor then every so often I'll unintentionally say something in a way that they find funny, but I can't make those people laugh when I try to make them laugh.

I can make people laugh. I think some of my humour is totally misunderstood.

For instance, today I said "Omega 6's"
a) don't exist
b) are man made

Of course it exists and of course its not man made. People corrected me but then again, they think I am stupid. Some of my closest friends have realized that if I say something stupid like that, its on purpose. Its like I'm imitating a stupid person.

Another example may be me referring to my parents as "mommy and daddy" while being 25 years of age. They make fun of me because thats a kiddy way of refering to them - of COURSE it is. Thats why I word it the worst, most humiliating way. People think they can jump on my "jokes" and take advantage of me but it doesn't work when I'm 100% of what I say. But, the worst is having to explain it as it ruins the mood of the jokes (I had a thread on "brilliant stupid" jokes)

If you want help on comedy, anyone can learn it, you just need to understand "why things are funny." If you're interested in learning this, pick up "Comedians Tool Box" or something like that. Its a book that will help you.

Humour is "Truth" and "Pain."

Most of the time I can't make people laugh, except when I'm with my little brother. He and I have a lot of inside jokes between us so we always make each other laugh.

Usually I can produce a witty remark or an outlandish yet sensible simile which can cause people to laugh, but most of the time I am quite serious. Other than the occasional clever wordplay, however, I am not very adept in the field of humor.

I can make my family and a few close friends laugh, but that's it. On the off chance that I do make someone else laugh, it's purely unintentional. For instance, I'll change the tone of my voice on a few words and not realize it, but it comes out as though I'm making a joke and peope laugh.
