Why are some girls so shy?

Lately, I've been interested in a girl from Florida whom is a friend of a friend. Her mom is willing to talk to me, but the girl herself? Not so much. I am harmless, and yet she seems so shy. Before you post your answers, I would request that you please refrain from posting anything snide or hurtful.

I am interested in her, but yet despite the fact I cannot read her mind, she doesn't talk to me too much. What is a guy to do?

Maybe she is not interested in you? Or just doesn't like talking too much in general?

When my friends/acquaintances visit me it ends up my mom talks to them and knows more about them than I do. I am not interested in people in general and I just met them to spend time with them, not to know them better. I focus on whatever we are doing, not on listening what they say and asking them questions.

Sometimes I am ashamed when my mom has to make me aware that my friend is for example going overseas. But I can't help it. That's just how my focus/memory works. I could never remember details of other people lives.

What can you do? If she is like me just spend time with her, doing what you both like. She may never talk much but at least you will be able to create a bound.

If a girl is in Florida and you're on the west coast (as it says in your profile) then she might just not want a long distance relationship.

I see. But I wish I can find somebody from either Seattle or L.A. like me...... and those are extremely hard to come by, I think.
