Someone(class fellow) I used to be kinda friends with, but haven't talked to in ~3 years, just asked me the question in the subject by commenting on an update of mine. I'm perplexed. What does this question mean? How am I supposed to respond to it? By telling them everywhere I've been in the past 3 years? Or just some highlights? Am I supposed to respond publicly, or privately? I have no idea how I'm supposed to respond to that question, and googling didn't help either.

Also, what's with these pesky Cloudflare errors?

What was the update? If it's casual fare, you can probably make a quick pass at a joke ("Around") or just outline something notable that's happened since the two of you stopped communicating regularly ("Got a job working as a...").

If it's something more serious, though, you may want to send a PM and ask him/her exactly what s/he means. But that's only if you were particularly close - otherwise, you can probably blow it off by utilizing the second option I've mentioned above.

You could respond with something similar to this: "Hey. How's it going? Just been busy with work/school (whatever applies here). What about you?"
