I'm one of these "conservative. anti drug" types. With that said, I don't see the harm in occasional marijuana use. Constant smoking every day (hours on end) for years WILL dull your mind. However, occasional use probably has its benefits for many. Marijuana is said to help with many maladies including glaucoma. The lying to teens about the danger of marijuana is the worst thing a parent can do if they want to keep their children off drugs. This is because teens are not stupid, and when they see perfectly successful people using marijuana, they see a lie being taught. If they find out that the teachings about marijuana is incorrect, they might subconsciously believe the dangers of crack, meth, and other drugs are incorrect as well.
The fact that marijuana is illegal should carry some weight because of the risk of getting caught. In many states, getting caught with marijuana means that the state will deny you the ability to exercise your right to vote, own a gun, and even work in many professions. I agree that these laws are stupid and unconstitutional, but the police, judges, and prison guards enforce them for their financial gain. If it were up to me, we would have a completely different system when it comes to drugs.
