Those of you who go on Facebook, have you ever seen somebody write on their status something to do with being pregnant even though they ain't pregnant?

It does make me read the comments and try to see if their replies look like they are going along with the joke or if it's really true. Some comments actually think it's true, others just laugh and know it isn't.

Like a few months ago my boyfriend's youngest daughter put something on Facebook about how there's going to be two of her soon, then added ''dun dun duuuuuunn'', you know, expressing that bit of peculiar-type music. One or two people commented saying something like ''yeah, if it's a girl there will be double trouble!'' or something like that to play along with the joke, and another person commented saying, ''you preg??'' My boyfriend's daughter didn't reply back and nobody else commented after that. Part of me knew it was a joke, but another part of me thought that you never know these days, so I didn't say anything to my boyfriend. But it's months later and she's obviously not pregnant.

Then today a girl who I used to work with posted on her status ''it's confirmed that I'm gonna be a mummy'', and as I read that I was like ''wow, that's big news!!'' But then the way she put it doesn't sound serious, because if it was serious I'd thought she'd add some smiley faces and stuff. And, again, some comments just said ''ha, that's the funniest thing I've heard...this week!'' And others seemed as unsure as me, some said ''congratulations hun'' and ''when you due?'' and somebody else put ''you really preggers?''

And then people wonder why rumors go around about them being pregnant and they get upset about it. Well, don't post unfunny jokes on Facebook about it then! I know that if I did something like that, everybody will take me seriously and believe me and I'd end up being showered with gifts the next day, and then my family would be cross with me, and I'd just look a right fool. But then I wouldn't want to do it anyway, because pregnancy is about giving life to another human being and should be taken seriously and as a life stage, not just something to laugh about on Facebook like it's just a trivial thing.

I'm so glad I traded a meaningless social life for a glacial one. I really hope people ditch that stupid monopoly in favor of telling one another what's going on and how they're doing.

Part of me wants to put a video call link on a paid domain of my name and leave it at that.
