I've always had pets, mostly cats when I was growing up. In some ways they are much easier to get along with than NT humans. Almost no deceit, and they are so expressive and easy to "read".

The dark side of this is dealing with them when they are sick, hurt or dying. Here is the story of my pet bird, a bird that broke my heart:

This experience was so difficult for me that I swore never to take in another animal.

A good substitute for them is watching wild animals. I am a birdwatcher in the sense that I enjoy watching wild birds and can identify many species, I also feed our local backyard flock. This is immensely enjoyable, the Steller's Jays have learned to perch outside and call me for peanuts, we just filled up the hummingbird feeder too and it's doing a roaring trade. A flock of California Quails often drop by to scratch like mini chickens. I could watch them for hours.

So who has pets? Are they better than NTs? How do you deal with dying ones?

I love animals too. I have a sweet kitty who I think is approx 13 yrs old so it is upsetting as I see her aging. She has trouble climbing and jumping and its sad. I help her up in the windowsill to sit in the sun but when I'm not here she can't jump up herself. I also have two aquariums and am emotionally attached to a number of my fish. My cat I love more than most people because she is so devoted and loving and non-judgemental.

She is so funny too. Like she likes to play in the bathtub when there's still puddles of water on the bottom after a shower. But if I catch her playing in the tub it embarrasses her or something because she will jump out if she seems me and take off running. She also likes to carry Q-tips around the house if she can get ahold of one. She likes them, but I'm not sure why.

I have three cats and three Pomeranians. I love them, but sometimes they'll literally drive me insane, especially Winston, the youngest dog! However, when I move out, I don't want to get any pets. I like being able to play with them, but I don't like having the resposibilities of having to take care of them. But one day, when I'm, like, fourty, I do want to adopt a retired racing greyhound.

Not having a pet is very hard. Knowing animals are out there that need homes is sad. I will always have a pet.

I have 2 cats live with me. I also have one dog, one cat and one rat at my dads house.
I generally like animals, but am a little nervous of dogs i dont know. (slight understatement.)

When my fave rat died I was very upset, i cried a lot considering. Whilst they are not a substitute for human interaction for me, I do like animals a lot.

Currently I have none, but I had 2 cats that found me, we met outside, they had no home. I find animals much more interesting to be with, than people

I've had a cat (called Flo :D ) since I was 8 and have a rabbit as well. I think I find it a lot easier to understand cats than humans...

Personally, I love dogs. Wish I could have one right now. I go over to a house with a dog, and the dog is focused on me, and me on the dog, and I forget my friends, lol.

Currently though, I have a cat, a tuxedo female. I've always hated cats (largely due to allergies)... but I'm also a big softie, and couldn't see her out on the street. :) Also have a beta.
