I'm 16... you all are familiar with Esma, the 11 year old girl I've been trying to be friends with.... her friend was supposed to ask her for me, but in case she didn't, i wrote a little note thanking her for hanging out with me that one time last year and also for being nice to me, and asking her myself... should I do that, ask her in person, or just wait for her friend to ask her?

I think that you should ask her parents first.

Hmmmm. Friendships of unequal age and power between adolescent boys and minor females are not a good idea full stop. It's not about how you go about it. If the parents are not going to supervise these encounters with you, then drop the whole idea, fast.

Still, I find it questionable, regardless what her parents think.

Why do you want to be friends with such a young girl? You are 16. She's only 11. Find friends your age or slightly older. I'm sorry, but your behavior is a bit creepy. What do you plan on doing with her? Play with Barbies together? Seriously, what does a 16 year old young man have in common with an 11 year old girl? Even if her parents are supervising you so much could go wrong. Bad idea. Where are your parents?

i can not understand how you could be romantically interested in an 11 year old.
it is probably better to not nourish that interest

I saw this thread under 'Active Discussions' as soon as I saw the last 5 words, I knew who the OP was.

Being friends with people my own age is not an option... I go to alternative school with only 3 other boys, and they are all screwy....

Do you do any other social things, apart from the cultural centre and school?

There are other places to socialize.

Try a club/program where you can meet like-minded individuals your own age. Like a book-club or something along those lines. I am currently going to something called the PEERS program, it is recommended for individuals with ADHD, Asperger's or high functioning autism.

Maybe you should try it. You may enjoy it and make new friends. There is a reasonable chance that some people in that program may want to meet friends as well.

Of course, do what you like. If you'd prefer to be friends with young girls, you could do that. I'm just trying to give you advice.

I've tried asking my mom to take me to those places before, since I don't have a driver's license, but she never does..... I've asked her over, and over, but she CONSTANTLY forgets, and breaks her promises.... I guess I'll just apply for a job at the Publix near my house...
