Cornwall, anyone?

More specifically, East Cornwall: Launceston region.

Anyone around, looking for contact with another aspie
(50+ male, into model trains, books, philosophy...)
or with advice about groups, resources or anything really.

I'm totally new to the region, know no-one and not much else by way of local information..
I'm currently working on locating buiders, carpet shops, Rayburn-reconditioners...
as the house I've been in for not quite two days needs more work than it seemed.
But that's pretty much the rule, so I'm not that horrified.

Isn't emett cornish slang for the tourists or is that devon?

I know it's grockell in one and emett in the other (can't remember which)

Grockle is Devon, largely, but emmet (usually like that with two M's and one T) is indeed used in Cornwall for "ant" and is applied to infesting tourists.

My "Emettman" refers to my affection for the work of Mr Rowland Emett, the British cartoonist and animated sculptor (known to but a few). He's responsible for my avatar picture which, in a very real but non-literal way, resembles me.

The article says that the cornish word for ant is muryon

So it says, and I believe them, but most of the time the Cornish speak their own version of English. Including such terms as "scat", but I'm not sure whether it's Cornish or Cornwall English dialect:
"Fishing's scat, mining's scat, farming's scat, tourism's scat. It's back to wrecking, boys!"

(I qualify as Cornish under the grandfather rule, but I'm not pushing it.)

Though I do not live in England.I might be interested in a philosophical discussion.

Cornwall.. just about the nicest place left in the UK,, and pretty much what the rest would have looked like had the Romans stayed at home. Love that place. Sadly, I live about 5 hours drive from it.

Long term plan is to live there with LadyM.. time will tell if it actually happens.

I have for a long time yearned to return to Cornwall. Went there few times as a child and loved it... I love the sea, love the countryside, love myths and legends etc... I envy those who are able to live in that place. I am Southampton currently so along the coast.

I hope it will be nice enough to be enviable. I've gone out on a limb to do this, and I don't mean the Cornish peninsula.

I'm currently negotiating about having chimneys lined, which is tricky when one knows nothing about such. And as an Aspie I'm not good at reading people's sincerity, and don't have a network of expert friends on whom to call.
(the internet is a partial substitute, I find.)
