As much as I don't want to do it, I have to say this: I have this somewhat overwhelming desire to ask someone out on a date (mostly driven by my wallowing in the Yahoo! personal ads). However, thanks to my AS, I find myself not doing so much as making a phone call to someone. Now that I have some semblance of my schedule at Target, I feel as though it's high time that I get the social ends taken care of at last.

First off, I work as a cashier at Target.

I should tell you this for more background info: When I was looking for matches on the Yahoo! Personals site, I went there knowing that every woman whose profile I saw were under a cloak of anonimity. However, there was this one person I recognized by looking at her picture and by the fact that she attended the same college I did (Castleton State College, Vermont). Also, I knew this person through her younger sister back when I was in high school. BTW, I have seen her face-to-face before.

Do you find it quite difficult to work as a cashier because of being in the publics eye??

I suggest you get wasted on Robutussin, and go for it. Be careful not to be too enthusiastic or talk too much when going for it if you do that. Also, if you are at dinner don't order too much, you're not going to eat it.

I stuck out some profiles on 'dating sites' and got some people on MSN, however, lately I can't be bothered to talk to them. I just feel blocked for some reason where a few months ago I would say anything and words would just flow. There's some more real-world links to check out right now for me but i'm not jumping at them either. I just feel blocked for some reason. If you know someone from before and think you got along with them pretty good then yes, go for it. That would be just the perfect situation, it doesn't get much better than that for ease of meeting people.

Yeah...my dad hates cashier work and dislikes customer service for the whole interacting with human beings thing. He's not a diagnosed Aspie, but he thinks he probably has it.

Today, during one of my breaks, I finally called Sarah (that's the person I've been tlaking about). I called her house epxecting to just simply leave a message on the answering machine telling her to call me back. However, I was a bit surprised when somebody actually answered the phone - presumably, her dad. So, naturally, I asked for Sarah. Well, we got to talk for a bit and eventually asked what she was doing tonight (which is pretty close to asking her out, IMO) and she said that she was planning on spending the evening with her family. However, I am rather relieved that I finally got over the hurdle.
