Hi there,

I have a problem that I can get too loud in social settings without ever realizing it. I get animated easily (in a happy way), and that's when the problem seems to occur most.

Anyone else have this issue and how you have managed to deal with it? I have thought about writing a "Q" on my hand or something, so next time I'm in a social setting I can try to remember and self-correct.

Thank you for your thoughts! :)

Is it the surrounding sound or just enthusiasm?

Could you divert some of the energy in a different direction?

Perhaps if they are nice people you can tell tel to let you know if you are being a bit loud.

I find it worth making light of issue light this, it tend to make them not as big a problem. See the funny side.

I have this problem. Luckily I have very few people to speak with (wont hear me say THAT too often) so it doesn't come up much. But it does drive my wife crazy. If I'm on the phone I have to go in the other room. She corrects me constantly. I used to get mad, but now I realize it can be deafening.

Wish I had a suggestion, but I don't. But I do the same exact thing.

I'm working on this.
Last time was at the library while waiting for AARP tax help.
My wife kindly gives me verbal cues. I jokingly reply - yes inside voice.
On the rare times I'm on the phone if the topic is of interest I get too loud for my wife who is say watching the news.
