Inspired by another thread here...
Do you do things that you are aware bother others and make them want to avoid you?

Whoa, me too!
I wonder why it is so bothersome when some people do them, but celebrated for others.

Talk. too much. Except that it seems that any talking is too much. Life would be easier if i didn't have to speak--seems like i get it wrong more than i get it right, no matter how hard i try.

Recently I have discovered that I talk too much about things no one cares about (linguistics, biology, etc), that I explain things in too much detail, I switch topics for no apparent reason, I reveal too much personal information, I speak too quickly (if I'm happy or nervous), and I'm too blunt or direct for most people's liking. I also misunderstand questions or miss the point of a conversation.

I'm pretty sure people find these things annoying because I tend to get weird reactions from them. And I know women in general don't like me at all. Some of these things I discovered myself, but some my bf told me, or some of my family members. And I have no friends. So I'm pretty sure I'm annoying.

Interrupt people, can't tell if they're finished. Talk about topics that bore them. Miss the point of what they say. Misinterpret emotions. Too blunt. Can't take a hint.

Pretty much all the things every stereotypical autistic does.

Howl like a wolf, meow like a cat, bark like a dog....on the NYC Subway.

People get scared when I do these things on the Subway.

I thought people in New York were used to unusual things on the train and everywhere else. At least that's the stereotype. In fact, wouldn't they be more scared if everyone started acting normal?

I ask too many questions, and I'm too blunt.

People in NYC are very similar to people everywhere. Some of them are even polite!

People tend to be very jittery on the subway. It's always been that way.

People tolerate way less on the subway than they do in the street.

My sister lives there, but I've never even been there once. From what she says, there are quite a few unusual people around and mostly people have learned to ignore strange occurrences. Must be a very interesting place, I'd like to go there sometime.

I write code & encode my writing. Most people loathe my habit of forcing them to think. Seriously, some people think being adept with riddles is almost demonic...

Let 'em.

I surf on buses & meow at pretty much anybody. It's good to take some ownership of ones' city, if at times a bit too obtusely. :P

People in New York tend to be cold to people falling down; they usually think they fall down because they are high on drugs. If a woman falls down, though, people are usually more compassionate.

People have gotten used to strange people in New York--but some still have a low tolerance for the strangeness. If somebody talks racist or something, another person will invariably take exception, and start to argue with that somebody.

An exception is when the person looks obviously disheveled and dirty.
