I've been in college for 8 months now and still haven't made any friends. I'm not really sure how to make a new friends because I've had the same friends for years. Does anyone have any advice on how I could go about making some friends?

I'm in the same situation as you, so maybe we can help each other. First thing you should elaborate on is the extent of your college experience. Do you live on campus? Are you taking online classes? Is it a technical college? Are your current friends also students at the college?

There are only two good ways I know to make friends at college.
-Live in a dormitory
-Join a club

Maybe classes, I never made any friends in mine though

A pretty foolproof tactic is to go up to random people in the hall ,say something like "Hi, how's it going?", and just see where it goes. I moved a lot in the past 2 years and when I was new to my current school one person did just that to me and we are now good friends.

It's been a long time ago.
What I remember was connecting to my interest

Musicians , theater folks and ____ ___ ______.

In other words my interest
The theater was in its infancy.
I was to scared to try it in secondary school. I got my feet wet doing props and sound.
Later that helped me in improvisation and writing comedy.
Acknowledge the fear and try something. For me small steps ...lots of small steps then retreat.
Yes the old come closer - go away.
