So, I have managed to make at least one friend. We talk on facebook quite a bit and I hang out with him from time to time. However I still get anxious when he doesn't reply to message for maybe an hour or a day. After which I start to believe or get paranoid that I said something incredibly wrong that is a putt off.

MHere is the conversation:

Me: Is that party your band is playing on Friday or Saturday?

Friend: uhhhh
saturday i think/hope

Me: You haven't entertained the idea of just calling in sick
I mean would anyone really give a f**k? Except L$#%#(name is blocked for privacy) who doesn't count anyway.

Friend: Lol
call in sick for the show? yeah i can support that idea..

Me: Can you even call it a show? He has been delivering pizzas bumming on a couch in Kansas Brownback country
For a year

Friend: Lol yeah, we are playing last as well
It's really nightmarish

Me: I would call in sick or some sort of bulls hit family event. Something excusable, unproveable but just the sort of lie that says I really don't care enough to come up with a better lie
If it's the last slot it doesn't affect anything really. It probably will cost you guys more than any possible return just drive out there

After the conversation he didn't reply. I mean I know it maybe just me being over anxious. I figure there is really nothing to say to respond, maybe? Or I did say something awkward?

Was he excited about this show and just pretending to think it was dumb because you thought it was dumb?
It seemed like you insulted his band. Did you mean to?
I'd ask him if he took anything you said badly and say you didn't intend it if you did.

Uh no.. He genuinely hated the idea of going to the show. I mean the part about a the lie was more for the organizer than his bandmates. Which is what I meant to say.

Well I just lost my long reply. WP is acting up today.

That's normal for non-romantic friendships. You should work on sometimes being the one to not respond back.

The time to talk back to your friend after a pause is when something funny or interesting happens.
