In my opinion it is called fidgetiness from a
NT view. Here's a example:

If I am Virgin Records on 3rd and Market in
San Francisco using their wifi on the 3rd floor,
I will many times get up, start feeling annoyed,
fidget on small items, and the staff starts looking
at me. Mind You, this is the first time I have
been there. I usurallly associate this as be
co-oped up. I think it is deeper though. This
applies to alot of small or cramped places.

I won't go to a small, cramped Starbuck, or
Borders and don't like large crowds. This
then can be call a mild? case of clausterfobia.

On the other hand in open spaces I still figit
and want to use the restroom alot because
the envirement stresses me out and I need
to walk away. This may be sensory-overload
issues. For example, they play the music
really loud at the starbucks on Mason and
O'Farrell. This is fine for the average person.
It makes me not able to even think. I lack
concentration, and when people start brushing
around me, I start stretching more often,
using the restroom more often, and find myself
walking out during crowded periods of their
business.

Hmmmmm? Call it what you will!

What goes through your mind
when this is happening?

What are the other circumstances
occuring during random spells
of Overemotional Coping or
Sensory Overload?

Hmmmmm?

I am just digging up some roots
here!

I guess it is a self-esteem issue,
that is perhaps disguised as
a sensory overload issue.

Hmmmmm?

I know exactly what you mean. I always get the totally irrational feeling that people are judging me based on where my arms and legs are positioned and where I'm looking, especially strangers. It's awful.

Anti-everything,
Considering how big of a freakshow most people on buses are, you probably don't get a second glance.

yep - i fidget and arrange myself just as you describe, all the time, especially when i'm "in public". not sure if it's self esteem, or just trying to present myself "at my best" (although who the hell is actually looking at me, i don't know).

i have a problem with this - considering we're always saying how appalling it is that people call us freaks, should we be doing the same? no, i think not. i'm more or less certain that the bible would have something to say about it, too.

I guess I would consider myself completely incapable of having an objective opoinion on public transportation. I also recognize the great discrepancy between God's love for the world and my lack therof and I don't forsee any way to resolve this any time soon. :(

Sometimes I have a strange look on my face, for no certain reason. I also look unrelaxed, when I fold my hands together. Also I shake my head sometimes.

I fidget all the time....I also am convinced that people are looking at me and judging me by the way I'm sitting/standing :?

I tend to appear tense or angry/agressive. I also tap alot and have this leg shaking thing I do that could probably used to do a roll on bass drum like the punk bands use so much now.

I used to get quite self-conscious when I was younger. Sometimes even walking to school was an exercise in frustration -- when I was in grade 7 or 8 someone commented that I looked like a robot because I didn't swimg my arms when I walked, and I spent the next year or so over-analyzing every little movement. I was also feeling a lot of insecurity about sexual orientation at the time, so I was always worried that I might "look gay" if I walked, stood or sat the wrong way....

Now I just don't care. If someone can figure out my orientation or neurology from the way I position or move my body then good for them. What difference does it make, anyway?
