What are personal affairs?

I know in our society asking someone about sex is inappropriate so that’s what comes to my mind in regard to personal affairs. However the ‘affairs’ hints that there should be more than one so I am curious what personal affairs mean to you or in your opinion excluding sex?

When somebody says to put your personal affairs in order because you are going to die or you're going into witness protection or having a risky surgery or something that requires you to be out of commission for a while or something it means to make sure everything pressing is paid and you have things taken care of with someone to pay your bills for you while you're laid up or whatever. It means to make sure you have a will made out and signed and notarized and that your family knows where it is. It means to get rid of anything you have hidden that you don't want anybody else to find, or to clean up any messes that people don't know you have, both literal and figurative. It means to get in touch with anybody you have been meaning to get in touch with that you haven't talked with in a long time because you just haven't had time or because one of you was mad at the other, and make up and forgive each other, or just catch up. It means to make sure your family and friends know that you love them and those who you secretly dislike should be told of it if it will make you feel better. It means to shave your legs and pluck your eyebrows and dye your roots and do your nails. It means to wear your good underwear. It means to look at your life overall and see if you have anything unfinished or undone and if you have the chance to do whatever it is or finish whatever you didnt finish, then go ahead and do it. It means it's time to wrap things up.

Basically, personal affairs are anything important to someone that isn't part of something that is public or not pertaining to them exactly, like certain work stuff that can be done by anyone.

Affairs means lots of things besides love affairs. Usually if it's not talking about romance and such, it means business issues and personal relationship matters between friends and family. It can also mean things to do with the person that are just part of basic maintenance, such as hygeine, grooming, medications if needed, etc.
