And, by outside, I mean outside of my room, and this is in my free time when I don't have a job.

I have been thinking lately about how I feel like my room is such a prison, especially since I am 20+ years old, and, after a while, playing video games and watching movies by myself is starting to bother me. I always wanted a girlfriend (I even had a crush in high school, but I'd rather not talk about that atm), but I currently don't even have any normal friends. Not to mention, my parents become super worried about who I hang out with, and that always makes me go, "well, what's the point, then? I don't want to be disrespectful of my parents, yet, at the same time, I want to do what I want to do."

I always wanted to get out some more so I can meet others. I have a few reasons for this, one being networking for jobs and two just being that I am sick of doing things by myself. I might have an opportunity to do this whenever I go to university for my bachelor's but I don't know how well that will go considering the environment and all. Not to mention, I am not sure when I am going due to finances and the way I am going there and back.

My question exactly is: where do I go to meet others to hang out with, and how do I find others with a common interest? Also, how does one with a job while still at home with his parents maintain said relationships without them becoming strained by different schedules?
