So I have 2 friends we will call them James and Billy and I am having some issues with them that I would like some input on. I see these guys at a club once a week and sometimes more if we are going to a movie or such.

My one friend James has to always be right. An example of this is once we were talking about stuff and Sun Tzus Art of War came up and James said Sun Tzu was Japanese I corrected that he was Chinese and he would not accept my answer. James will even make stuff up to support his side of the conversation.

My other friend Billy acts like I dont know what I am talking about. An example is I went to plug in a USB flash drive into a computer and he told me repeatedly that "It would not work due to the computer not having internet for a few weeks" Billy was surprised when it did work.

Also what will happen is these two friends will play off each other.

I know everyone has there issues and I dont for a second think I can "change" them. But I am wondering if Anyone has any thoughts on ways I can deal with this stuff? I really dont want to skip group meetings but if it comes to that I would if it would help.

Thanks
Jaime

I think the only thing you can do is that, whether or not you can help each other out and have fun, people have flaws. Sometimes those flaws are very annoying.

What kind of a group is this? I deal with people like this once in a while. Once you know someone is going to act that way, I find it best to ignore them, like you don't have to ignore them completely, but know when to fight your battles. If you know someone is going to insist they are right and you are wrong, just let them be ignorant about it and do what you need to do. If it gets to a point where it is really bad and it is causing you distress then don't even bother to acknowledge them anymore. You don't have to give them your attention if they choose to act in such a way.

It is an anime club and I do try and do that but it is hard cause our group is so small we generally have anywhere from 5 to 9 members each week and the two people in question are the president and vice president.

But I will talk to another member about this I possibly will go less or such.

For the record I realize my sense of humor is a flaw to them and I do try and tone that down when they ask me and such.

Ah, yeah that makes it difficult. One thing I've learned is that I am not going to be compatible with a lot of people. I've settled a lot in the past, I am working hard on not doing that anymore. It can really start sucking the life out of you. Do you stay and try to make it work, or do you try to find a better outlet for whatever it may be, in this case your love of anime. Sounds like you get along well with that other member you plan on talking to, maybe try becoming friends with that person outside of the group.
