Resources for a codependent aspie
See title. My AS is relatively mild, though still enough to impact my ability to work/go to school. I suspect much of the codependency comes from living with my parents and siblings, most of whom display stronger AS characteristics than I do. When growing up, I developed a self-image based around 'being the reasonable one' in an altercation, and my limited empathy and experience with AS enabled me to serve as a mediator when things got heated.
All of this, unfortunately, leads me to derive my value from my ability to help people. It also means that when there's something that I shouldn't compromise on, I compromise anyway and choose to be resentful and angry rather than confront the situation. A good way to get what you want from me is just to act as if I agreed to whatever it is and act accordingly.
I searched around the forums for a bit and found that the combination of AS and codependency isn't as uncommon as I thought. Are there any books/websites/whatever that people have found particularly helpful in dealing with the codependency? In what ways does AS make easier or harder to deal with it?
