What does it mean when someone shouts at you "Run, Forrest, run!" when you're running?

I sometimes run while going between classes at school. I know it's from Forrest Gump, and Forrest Gump likes to run. The first time someone said that to me, I didn't think anything of it, but then someone else said it. Since it's no longer an isolated incident, I'm wondering what it means.

I know that Forrest Gump has a borderline IQ, so maybe they think it looks stupid to run? If so, then that's their problem. I have a class that I need to get to, and there isn't much time in between classes.

Then again, maybe they just happen to really like the film.

They're mocking the fact your running, and therefore likening you to Forrest Gump.

A thought to present though: A least some other people get to class on time, and they don't run to class do they? Therefore it must be concluded its possible to reach class without running. If you were to not run, potentially people wouldn't mock you in the interval between classes? Additionally, it is undoubtedly crowded in the corridors of your school between classes, if that is the case, running isn't likely to save you much time. Carefully watching which way people in front of you are moving, and slipping through them would save you more time, and if you learn where more people bunch up in the corridors, you might be able to work out a more efficient route. Thats just my opinion from experience of ~5 years of Secondary School and the first year of Sixth Form.

Alternatively, just continue sprinting to classes, I would present one word of warning however. If there are particularly malicious people at your school, they may advance to attempting to trip you up, which is hard to avoid when running in a crowded corridor, if your walking, (even if it happens to be a slightly weird walk, like mine is), you have more control over your movement, and then rather than putting speed into your movement, you can simply increase the force of your movement. They'll either wisely move their foot out the way, or get dragged a few feet and stumble a bit, then they shouldn't be as much of a bother.

Actually, I am not running in crowded corridors. I only run when I have to go outdoors in between classes.

Thanks for your input.

If they're the same age as you (16) they're mocking you. They're comparing you to a man with a borderline IQ.

But also consider the source: they're 16 - 16-year-olds are all about making fun of everyone who is different because they're trying to find their own place in the social hierarchy.

I know that avatar is Trump and Hitler as a hybrid.

When I was a marathon runner, people used to mock me by saying, "Run, Forrest Run." I felt sort of threatened because, sometimes, they would run behind me in mockery.

I believe I have lots of Forrest Gump in me. In some ways, he might have had a "borderline" IQ. In other ways, though, he was quite bright. He saved all those people in Vietnam, remember?

I consider myself a female Forrest Gump with a high IQ.
And guess what?
In high school, I was a distance runner.
I'm also very good at ping pong.
And really strange adventures
just have a way of happening to me.

I find references to Forrest Gump inspiring.

Below is a photo I took years ago:
Looks like a giant feather in the sky, don't it?

Image

Mrs. Gump: I happen to believe you make your own destiny. You have to do the best with what God gave you.

Forrest Gump: What's my destiny, Mama?

Mrs. Gump: You're gonna have to figure that out for yourself. Life is a box of chocolates, Forrest. You never know what you're gonna get.

It's a shame that some people mock people with what was a beautiful movie to me, I grew up watching it all the time. Forrest lived an inspiring life despite his disability, when I think it definitely is probably in my top 5.

People said that to me when I was in school too & I didn't really run. I just walked to class a tad faster than most unless I was running late to something & then I kinda speed walked

You're probably the only one running, and by yourself too, so teenagers will make fun.

I used to walk fast on my way home from school, and one time I overtook a group of slow-walking girls, and that set them off didn't it? They started shouting "run! Run!" all the way home, and did this every time they saw me on the way home. But I started walking home a different way, to avoid them.

I can recall two occasions randomers have yelled this at me over the years since I started running, both times I felt like stopping and asking them why they think it's weird enough to yell at me when I am merely a human interested in improving their fitness or in the other case I could be simply intent on getting somewhere pronto using my limbs to increase speed and heart rate, might as well have yelled out 'look at this weirdo daring to zoom around whilst we are stationary!'

They're a bit weird to be fair.
I'd said perhaps weirder yet, some people seemed confused that a person could smile? Has the modern era gotten that depressing for normal people they've forgot about smiling. I was just walking past, a small smile on my face, and then behind my back overhearing them having a conversation as if smiling we're some alien concept...
