I know this is a long time ago but still......

10 years ago I remember in one of my college classes this guy who was a member of our class (he had aspergers apparently) showed up one day with a 'fake tan' and one of the girls in the class started talking about his different coloured skin in an enthusiastic way. And the girl pointed to a magazine article with male models saying to him "you should be on there with the models".

A few days later a member of the class said to me "they were actually rude about that guy with the tan behind his back"

Do you think it would probably make sense that the girls in the media class talked badly about him when he was not present?

Yes, teenagers are often rude about people.

Maybe younger teenagers more than 17 year olds but it is not impossible that they laughed at him behind his back for failing to pull off a certain look.

I am in college myself and there are some pretty immature college students who have nothing else better to do. A lot of them who do that not only misunderstand but have a sense of insecurity themselves. The best you can do is feel sorry for people like that.
