I usually end up laughing at the "wrong" times at movies or in class. But put me in front of what's supposed to be a funny show on TV and I end up just sitting there staring blankly. I think I just have a different sense of humor. It's never gotten me into too much trouble with people and I've actually had some teachers say that they like me cause I'm the only one who gets their jokes.

teaching can be a nightmare for that - i'm supposed to be professional and not giggle. but i simply cannot "do" assemblies - it s'pose it's cos i MUSTN'T laugh that i always start sniggering, as soon as i walk through the door. i have had to leave many an assembly, while the kids thought i was upset cos i was crying with laughter. on one occasion, i had to hide under a chair, so no-one could see me cracking up.

apart from that, most of the time, i have enough self control to suppress it. although not always...

I laugh at anything incongrueous or even slightly ironic, even if it is supposed to be a serious and depressing thing. I thought i was sociopathic at first. Like when i first heard of that myth where someone rode the rubble down the collapsing trade center, a little movie came on in my head where there was a guy terrified, who started surfing the rubble down, and then Wipe Out started playing and his facial expression changed to more daring and then the music abruptly stopped and a splat sound effect happened when he smashed into the ground.
Once my teacher told me how when he was born, he got turned around and his legs popped out and he hung himself with his imbilical cord, i burst out laughing. Nobody else laughed, and i was like oooops.... Later he told me he intended it to be funny.

A few times in a movie theater, I had to hold in my laughter because I was about to laugh at something that wasn't even funny. It's not easy for me to control my laughter. If I see something funny, then I laugh. I got in trouble for that in school a lot of times, like when a student would do something that he/she isn't supposed to do, and I'd laugh at them.

I am king of badly timed laughter. People know me for my bizaare sense of humor. I'm that guy that laughs at things not meant as funny and makes bad puns.

For laughing at things others not see funny, I am guilty. My mother has very warped humour I love. She also very, very sarcastic!! We never watch news without laughing and laughing! It the way be worded and voice tones we find amusing.
I laugh at things not meant to be funny and have upset or shcoked others with this too. :P
Or try explain to person why suddenly crack up and they just be mystified. hehe

ooooh, Civet, that's a lovely thing to say - thank you!

(you might not say it if i were, though - i'm a complete disciplinarian, and take no BS. but then i firmly believe people need boundaries, to feel safe and know where they are, for one thing).

I remember I got sent out of class once in History when we were watching "All Quiet on the Western Front" because I couldn't stop laughing. I mean the film was supposed to be moving and everything, but I just found it hilarious-
It was just like Monty Python, the camera would be panning over no-mans land, which was entirely empty apart from one hut.
The camera panned past the hut, then stopped and panned back slightly so the hut was in the center of the screen, at which point the hut promptly exploded in a puff of terribly unrealistic bright orange smoke.

And then there was another bit with a soldier climbing a barbed wire fence, when the soldier suddenly exploded, leaving a fake looking arm clinging to the fence.

...Also there was one time at school when some girl found out that her father had died, and I had to do all that I could to keep myself from laughing. Probably because thats the worst possible reaction that one could have in a situation like that. 8O

What happens with me is that I will often laugh out loud at internal thoughts. My laughter is entirely personal and usually no one else will find my thoughts humorous, so there is no point of sharing. So, people often think there is something wrong with me or that I am high on drugs.

If I am in a quiet place with strangers (i.e. a doctor’s office) and some random hilarity occurs in my mind, I will have great difficulty controlling my laughter.

When people accuse me of being on drugs, I laugh harder. I do laugh at my internal thoughts all the time, but I am ok at suppressing it to a smile.
