You didn't break a rule with them. Someone else who doesn't like you told them bad things about you. That's my bet. NTs love to gossip.

I hate this sudden change in behaviour - it's like trying to satisfy two different targets.

It's like when I had a sleepover with someone a few years ago and they treated me like sh*t, and when I groaned and cried he said "That is tight!" ('tight' in slang, refers to 'unfair' :?) and later he said to me "Shut up!"

What a hypocritical delinquent.

I don't tell the truth anymore with my girlfriend.

I was punished for years telling her the truth of things, and so I gave up my crusade. Now I nearly exclusively lie to her.

My mom hates me for being a Atheist Determinist and a materialist. Leaning Satanist. She's Christian and now barely talks to me about my interests.

I have lost friends because I have told the truth

what was that quote.. (paraphrasing) "Lies are the grease that keeps society's gears moving"

jijin,

I won't lie for anyone. Which is probably why I don't know anyone "out there".

Social Walker,

I NEED THE ANSWER! I NEEDS IT!

Beware
the Social Walker
his deafly deceit and deathly deception
will teach you more ‘bout social reception
than one is prepared to absorb
with fearful inception and gullible perception
it hurts less to remain a dream stalker
a social baulker
than a social walker

Have I? Yes, probably many times. But what? Well, if I had the answer to that, I wouldn't be here.

I've found that it probably isn't a secret rule, but more likely something very personal to the person you are talking to. There is something that for whatever reason they value very highly, and you just trampled all over it.

What makes it so difficult is that different people can have quite varied things that they are offended by. And it is impossible to be a mind reader and know em all.

I think NTs may have a better time reading between the lines and drawing on stereotypes about what might offended a person. And I think the really succesful salestypes work this in the opposite direction and pick up on what a person really likes... and what they really value. But its hard to know since most people won't come out and say it... they just have to intuitively know it and work with it quickly in the timeframe of a conversation.
