You don't have to always be around someone you don't have to. Even if the person is supposedly the greatest person in the world, if you don't want to be around that person you don't have to.

Thanks Zach. I really needed that reminder right now.
What great timing you have!

I had that the other day when riding the bus with another neighbor who is also on the spectrum and though we associated for a while, I had my reasons for cutting it off. So when it came to being around him, I only gave him a slight acknowledgment by nodding my head before avoiding him both on the bus and on the walk home. In fact, I was able to walk ahead of him being that I am a fast walker.

^ I do that all the time with my neighbour. Usually I excuse myself with a "I'm really tired, I'm just gonna go to the back and sleep". They can understand that.
Also, luckily, I walk very fast.

I have blocked people on social media that I don't want to be around. I avoid these people in public too. I will literally hide in a bathroom or just leave whatever store I'm at and go somewhere else. My sister has a friend that I can't stand. When he is over, I stay inside the house and hide out in my room. When I was little, I would hide behind the bushes next to my apartment building to avoid the weird neighbors from the other building. If somebody makes you feel uncomfortable, you don't have to be around them.

I know even of some NT people who could do with that advice.

I have a neighbour living on ground floor (I'm on the first floor), who has his own mental issues but is also pretty old. I was invited into his house once or twice for coffee, and while he was cordial I could also tell he had a bit of a manipulative streak and he tried to get me to do his bidding for him. I wasn't having that, so in all subsequent encounters I've kept our interactions brief and have politely declined any invitations. I know he doesn't really appreciate that, as he is very much set on knowing everyone in the neighbourhood, but I am a very private person and I have plenty of my own problems to deal with as it is.
