My 7 year old UbbyUbbyUbby / Daniel has a friend at school called H. They are both equally obsessed with dinosaurs.

Poor H was very sick last week with sudden onset of diarrhoea at school. The poor kid pooed his pants at school and was very upset!

H had over 1 week off school sick. Anyway, I was waiting outside the class with UbbyUbbyUbby and some of the kids started talking about H. They were giggling and saying 'H pooed his pants'.

My UbbyUbbyUbby said, 'So what? He's been very sick. You are very mean!'

Then UbbyUbbyUbby said, 'We should have a surprise party for when he comes back to school! I'm going to bring a cake!'

So the other kids started planning a surprise party for H.

When H came back to school yesterday all the kids had brought a little treat for this 'surprise' party and H had a nice first day back.

I was so glad and proud my son intervened. Otherwise H would have had a first day back with kids teasing him.

Helen

What a thoughtful thing to do.

Hmmmm. Now where did he learn to treat others so well? Way to go mom!

His friend H is also a great kid and friend to my UbbyUbbyUbby.

Last week UbbyUbbyUbby / Daniel took his stuffed dragon that he loves and sleeps with every night to school.

Some other kids snatched the dragon off him and threw it onto the roof. Daniel was extremely upset and proceeded to a meltdown.

His friend H went and asked the groundsman to get a ladder and get the toy down. The groundsman told him he was too busy and would do it the following week.

H insisted it was an emergency and begged the groundsman to do it straight away.

The groundsman agreed and did it straight away!

This is a great friendship!

What a wonderful story.I think aspies can be very loyal friends and I love how just putting things in a different perspective...ie...he pooed his pants because he was sick helped refraim the other kids perspective.Somoe part of them knew that they could get sick and it could happen to them and how would they prefer others t respond...and all said so simply with a thought for positive action...the party.Kind of interesting how easily the sheep can be lead,as well.

Sounds like a nice kid but when he is a teenager theres no way he's going to be like that, I know I use to be nice like that at 7 but now at 17, I'm very depressed. good luck.

That is sooo great. Even at the age of 7, there is peer pressure, but your son rose above it and as a result, the class joined him! Go UbbyUbbyUbby! :D

Good for Ubby.

I think most Aspies make great friends... if NTs would let us get close enough. We're mostly all very honest and very loyal.

UbbyUbbyUbby IS a great friend. This is a rare quality, certainly, in any human (autistic, NT, adult, or child). I already knew he was a sweet boy though when he shared with us his dinosaur drawings - gifted too.

I wish I had an adult friend with his qualities.

Smelena: Look out! When Daniel is a teenager/young adult I'll bet the girls will be hovering for his attention. He'll be a lady killer (that's just an expression). :D
