I was wondering if any people with asperger's syndrome have told their friends about it.

I've told one of my friends but he's the only one I can trust not to tell anyone. I've kept it a secret that I have aspergers syndrome, and I suggest that anyone else with it does the same. You could get bullied for it, and people with aspergers syndrome are highly susceptable to bullying anyway, without giving the bullys extra material. Only tell your friends, if anyone, is my advice.

I'm in college, relativly strong and my freinds include 2 of the strongest guys in the college, plus 2 guys who own swords...... Therefore, I've told em. However, the question is whether or not they understood. I've directed em here for more info before.

I tell people whenever it comes up. I don't really go out of my way to tell them, though, and when I do tell them they have known me for a while and they are always surprised, which makes me happy because I know I have been able to be appropriate around them. First, because if I do something that seems a bit "off" socially, it won't be as weird for them or me. Second, because it's a part of me, and I don't want to have to go through the effort of hiding any of myself. Third, because I want more people to know about AS. To me it's worth the risks

Has anyone ever read "The mysterious incident of the dog in the night time"? if you havent its about a 15 year old with asperger syndrome.
I am quite shy and find it hard to tell people about things, then by random chance I was talking to my friend and it came up in conversation. Him mentioning it first made it easier for me to tell him, so I did. He was quite annoying for a while after that because he asked tons of questions about whether the stuff you see on TV was true. He did promise not to tell anyone though.

All my friends know, I certaintly haven't kept it a secret, even while at school. I was a target for bullying in the first few years... till they saw how I reacted (extreme violence  ), after that they mostly left me alone.

But I'm sorta like Mockingbird, where I don't go out of my way to tell someone I have it, but then I'm also like Vetivert, where I'll talk someone's ear off about it once I have told them...

Friends? What friends?

Ok, I do have a few friends, but I am not going to tell them b/c I don't know for absoultely sure yet. . . .I am at 90% sure, but I would rather not tell anyone unless they are truly on a need-to-know basis, and I doubt that will ever happen.

I'm not a violent person, even if I did fight back it would just start a fight. I would only hit them back if I was sure I could really hurt them.

I only have online friends, but they all know. For some reason, I'm a lot more comfortable bringing it up online than in RL.

a padawan is a jedi apprentice from the star wars films
I find it easier bringing it up online too.

I have a theory which is:
when your online you can pretend you arent really talking to a person, that you are just typing it out, even if you arent consciously aware of it
