You prefer red skittles but second choice is a purple. Last is green and you only eat that one nothing else is available. Meanwhile there is orange and yellow before you get to green. Many of autistics are the green skittles in the social world. Last freaking choice. When you sense that, run from a person who treats you as less than.

Excellent metaphor, Historygal. I'm definitely a green skittle in the social world. I don't waste my time with people who treat me like a green skittle.

I like lime-flavored green Skittles. But it's been a long time since I ate any. I think that stupid "Skittles Pox" commercial they're still airing has put me off them.

I eat all skittles.

I prefer to eat opposing flavors simultaneously and then rank the “recipes”. Which goes to show... even if you’re the green skittle, you can actually make someone else better just by being different than them!

However... I totally get the analogy and I definitely feel like the last social choice in most cases. You just have to find the people who like mixing flavors and are missing the lime for their recipe!

I don't bother anymore. No point.

At least they don’t have black/licorice skittles.

At this stage of life, I became adept at identifying people who would discount me as such and don't pursue any meaningful relationship with them.

I'm good with acquaintances to see on occasion at work or church.
