me and my friend drive 30 minutes to the city. My other friend drives 20 minutes and pick us up in city

Or should we drive all the way to my second friends house?

If Charlie and Sam drive 30 to the city, and Fred drives 20 minutes to pick up Charlie and Sam from the city, how far is it from Charlie and Sam's house to Fred's house?

My first response was: it depends how long it would take to go straight to the friend's house instead of into the city.

But then the NT response occurred to me, which is: have you tried asking your friend which they would prefer?
