Learning you can always wash your hands after! Seriously. Little ones make all kinds of messes. I never have enjoyed touching “slimey” things. I hated washing dishes because of food slime. You learn with a baby you really dont have any option. Your child needs you to care for it and if that means poop on your hands, so be it. It washes off. Another thing I learned was patience. I had little before. Its a lesson I’m glad to have learned.

Learning to rest whenever possible.

Take your cues from the baby, not just from books or what people say.
An upset NT baby may be calmed by being held and spoken to, but an aspie baby might do better left alone for a while.
Trust your instincts, you know your baby better than anyone else.
