A guy that I work with and kind of chat with came in,today saying hi to everyone like normal but after he saw I about had all the dishes done,he joked that I was kicking butt. I merely looked at him and said it just needed done, he got a huge grin and said just accept the compliment woman before walking away.

Most humans like to be appreciated and recognized. He was attempting to show you his appreciation by recognizing what a good worker you are by showing his gratitude towards you.
