When is it appropriate to send a pm message to someone? I don't want to creep anyone out and I've never recieved one myself. :(
Do people just not like me on this site? Or do they have the same hesitation as I do?

If you find someone you want to talk to, just send him/her a PM. You don't have anything to lose.

Tim

Considering this is a site for people who have soial difficulties,I dont think it is to suprising if many people have problems "reacing out".My "personality" does not make it easy for me to send a PM,but I always enjoy getting the ones I have and always respond......Then I never know what the heck to do.Am I supposed to keep responding? If they are just making a comment on something I posted....do they expect a response and then what do I say.Just because it is on the internet does not make it easier for me to know ..."the right thing" to do.....and being female,if I do send a PM,I have to make it very clear that I am not "hitting" on the person, lol.I'm so use to being misunderstood that I question every social contact.I also worry that I might be "invading their space",boring them or "whatever".

I also know that I can be a pretty "lame" friend.I get caught up in my current obsession and forget that it's been weeks since I Pmed and that they might think I dont like them,or something.....or they dont respond to me and I think they dont like me...even though I should know better from the times I have spaced out responding while in the throws of an interest.

I've wondered the same thing myself. I never know if/when it's appropriate to send a pm, and I don't get any, either. I also have the same problem socializing IRL. I never know how to approach someone for a conversation, and what to say, if I did.

so, essentially what you're all saying is that you're aspies...

(uh oh, was that socially awkward? I should just slink over to the corner where noone can notice me.)

PM's are nice, especially when you're new. You really feel accepted then. Krex PM'd me and it was great to hear from someone on WP responding to something I'd said! :D

If you reach out to someone here you'll probably make their day.

Woman,
Go for it. Just don't creep people out.
I don't mind receiving a PM every now & then.
