Do people report just to get revenge or hurt others?

On twitter I'm almost on a permanent ban cos someone reported a joke I told.

It was an edgy joke & technically broke the rules.

But it's a common joke on my TL, I have a padlocked account so it must have been one of my followers and my followers wouldn't have found the joke offensive.

Do you think it's possible that someone grassed on me just to get revenge? If so, over what? Because I report bigots?

I only report people who I think are doing something actually immoral or hurting others. There's a boy on my TL who's going through a really rough time & technically his suicidal stuff breaks the rules, but I don't grass him up cos I think it would do more harm than good to his mental health.

When I get into trouble, it affects my mental health and makes me feel like a really bad person.

Of course, it can be some kind of revenge or maybe someone wanted to bully you, but there's also a chance that you don't know your followers as well as you think. Maybe one of them did find the joke offensive.

People do this all the time, half the population is a bunch of insanely evil narcissists. People will literally attack you just because you're having a positive nice time and they aren't.

I always end up having my social media accounts attacked in some way, people are mad jealous of any little thing. The way to combat this is to just try to be as vanilla as possible online, don't get into any fights or anything that can be used against you if someone decides to report you.

I mainly deal with this kind of thing offline, where people literally ring the police on our business because they're so jealous and want to see us fail, we end up having police CID officers stalk the area multiple times to see if we're chopping cars because people are jealous of success to the point they want to wreck your s**t.

Reminds me of little kids building blocks and one kid does a really awesome one and another kid gets jealous and wrecks it, same s**t just in a more complex way.

Yes, I completely agree with all that you have said above. I would say that the percentage of scummy people in the human race is likely higher though. Sadly.

They are simply controlled by their lower minds, destructive emotions and thoughts.
Part of the problem is that they have chosen a path of destruction philosophically, which does not condemn their volatile and deceitful actions as bad, among some, they actually revel and boast their disgusting actions.

Revenge?  I cannot speak for others.  However, while I normally have moderate tolerance for BS, I am more likely to report someone's infractions of the rules if they have repeatedly harassed or insulted me than someone who has been nice to me or simply ignored me.

Personally I avoid massive social media like Twitter.

The more massive the medium, the more drama.

That's one of the reasons I prefer to stick with small message boards like WP.

I don't do Twitter.
I suggest you do the same.
Twitter is where the twits go, after all.

I don't really care if I offend glory hunters though.

What I said was normal for my TL and for what they could reasonably expect from my account.

When I try to give my 15-year-old sister, Claire, a taste of her own medicine, it just backfired. Just for calling me immature on May 5, '20, I need to go back at her. When I type things like, "Claire thinks she's faultless," "Everybody is afraid of me," and "Everybody else treats me like the devil." Claire will just say that I'm typing, "Claire thinks she's faultless, Claire's afraid of me and Claire treats me like the devil," like she's the center of the world. But clearly, she's not the center of the world, I am. Claire has been wrongly thinking she's innocent even though she called be immature. People who do things like that aren't cool.

Yes, tattle-tales are known for that exact behaviour...

...and nobody likes a tattle-tale.

Nobody's the centre of the world, kid

It's a tough time to grow up. Maybe easier for aspie teens cos I'd have loved to stay home from school & self-educate & I'd have done the work. But you miss out on stuff like friends when you're working from home.

I hope stuff works out between you & Claire. Sounds like sibling rivalry going on. I don't have siblings my own age, my youngest step-sister is 15 years older than me. But I had that kind of rivalry with my cousin. It's sad cos we missed out a lot on getting to know what we had in common like we both read similar books but I never knew that cos she's NT and she was trying to be 'cool' and 'cool kids' didn't read.

Yeah if I get banned I'm gonna start on a football forum.

Not a mixed one cos I hate mixed chat about football. I genuinely offend people when I try that lol.

It's silly though cos my account is padlocked. It's not like just anyone can see what I tweet.

People are on edge these days, gotta be really careful about what you say. I am woman of color with a dark sense of humor also and even I have to make sure not to say those kinds of jokes because I know how people are.

How mature could a 16-year old girl be?  True maturity does not include a desire to "get back" at others.

See that's the thing.

I'd never make jokes against minorities.

Bit different if it's your own I guess but 'snowflake' reactions on the left make sense to me. It can be hard to tell the difference between someone masquerading as a racist for the sake of a joke and someone masquerading as a joker for the sake of racism.

My ex ran into that a lot, her sense of humour was definitely one of the things I appreciated but in some contexts it really could be misinterpreted.
