Trust/distrust

This is kind of weird and I'm not sure I can describe it.

I am incredibly trusty, I take everybodys words for what they are, unless it's an obvious lie I trust what people say.
Which has bit me in the ass a couple of times.
Which in turn has made me distrust my trust in people.

Hope it makes some kind of sense...

I understand that. I used to be like that, but after being deceived and having my trust broken on multiple occasions, I've become much more wary of trusting others. Not to mention all the stranger danger stuff they drilled into us at primary (and even now!)...

I can relate to this. I too tend to take anybody's word for anything, unless its demonstrably false. Even to the extent of doubting my own experience if it conflicts with what I'm being told. It's not useful!

I was like that in my teens and bullied because of it. I was scarily gullible to the point of possible danger but I learned the hard way. I have very little social skills as I rarely socialise but listen to those you trust that will look after your best interests. I just wish my family had known sooner that I had autism, they could have watched me closer. I'm not bitter about it though in any way and now I know the dangers that lurk around us but need a little more help from professionals even though I'm a good deal older now.

you're avatar/picture is very disturbing. I'd consider changing it if I was you.
What you say is kind of obvious, it makes perfect sense but is what we all go through.
I still trust people, perhaps too much. But on the other hand I distrust people, perhaps too much.

I'm not particularly trusting, but I also don't challenge people when they lie to me. Not being able to resolve the difference between actions and expressed sentiment has caused me so much anxiety in recent months I had to quit my job to reduce the number of unsolvable problems that preoccupy me.

After so many lies that took place in my life I have the same feeling about trust. I just don't trust anyone

Hi. I sent you a message as I've no idea at all what was disturbing about the avatar, one was a rainbow and the other sparkles but I've removed them as you found something disturbing or possibly something that triggered you and I respect that.

Honesty is a typical trait of ASD. And like some of you, it has bitten me in the butt. And when I'm ina position where I have to lie, the people I lie to can read me like a book.

I've been taken advantage of so many times and witnessed others being taken advantage of as well. Nevertheless, I do like to trust in people as much as I can.

Those on the spectrum are known for their trusting disposition.
That is why we are sort out by narcissists.

I believe it may have something to do with our lack of ToM.
