If you randomly hang out with a social group who you don’t know very well why might group they label you as a ‘weirdo’?

I am not saying every group of people has this attitude towards clingy outsiders but from experience it is quite often the case?

They don't know why one clings to them if they fail to incorporate, they don't know much more about that person because of the failure to integrate, it seems weird therefore the person is a weirdo.

The other night my 66 year old friend was hanging out in a bar surrounded by young people. There was this 2 lesbian girls showing affection towards each other and he said to them “get a room”. They looked angry at him when he made the remark.

Do you think that’s understandable they got annoyed?

It's understandable----though I might take it in good humor.

Being labeled as weird is nothing new to me. That's what happens when you're not born with the instincts to know what behaviors are and are not socially acceptable. Pre-diagnosis it led to a lot of very bad experiences. Post-diagnosis I understand myself a whole lot more than I did before.

It always baffled me why every new group of people I met saw me as weird. Then I found out I was autistic.
