Did you unintentionally gross people out when you were a (older) kid or even adult?

When I was 13 I had retainers (a brace you take out) and I would just randomly take it out my mouth in class for no reason really, maybe because I was bored. Kids in my class used to be grossed out and say "urgh, please put it back in your mouth". I knew it was inappropriate to take my retainers out when others were eating, but if they weren't eating then I seemed unaware of how inappropriate it still was. I thought it was OK to take my retainers out in class, a bit like taking your glasses off or something.

Ugh, I was so stupid.
Anyone else grossed people out without meaning to when you were younger? I don't mean when you were under 8, as most toddlers/small children do pretty gross things.

Yes.

And I still do now no thanks to unmanageable chronic rhinitis.

Well, that's a bit different, because it's a physical issue. I get the same but I know how to be hygienic about it and not gross people out (and I'm sure you do too, if you can help it that is).

I still can't, actually unless I pack a whole towel.
Also issues likely to do with my anatomy and not able to do it quietly.

Onto the topic -- yes, I also still do.
I was a sensory seeker. This particular habit might be a form of stim for me.

One of the things I did is basically play with liquid in my mouth.
Something about with liquid going through between my teeth and onto my gums, with air pushing through it.
It might've contributed to my dental problems that lasted until adulthood just recently.

Said dental problems are solved recently, by removing the whole thing and replaced it with a toothbridge. This, or get dentures. I chose toothbridge.

It doesn't help. I cannot help just feel something and it just became a habit.
To a point my boss heard it sometimes.

But sure.
There are other things like accidentally seeing my unshaved armpits. It's not like I've been wearing short sleeves.

I didn't go to public school until 6th grade and I knew my mom didn't like me picking my nose, but I didn't know how socially unacceptable it was until I just randomly did it in class one day and one of the other kids saw me and made a grossed face.

XD Never did it again though, I learned my lesson.

Not as a kid, but I do now when I can't get to the bathroom on time.
