Hello,

I was planning on staying a few days in London in January 2008.

However, after going to the travel agent today and looking on the internet - I am dismayed by how expensive it is.

Our poor Aussie dollar is not match for the pound!

I will be in Europe from 8th January and fly out from London on 28th January.

Can anyone suggest any really cheap accomodation in London? If I can find somewhere reasonably priced to stay, I can spend a few days there. If not, I will fly to London last minute before going home.

Helen

Well there is the sort of communal hostel digs some of the aus travellers use. Are you sure you haven't got any relatives, niece or nephew working in a pub in London?

London is one of the most expensive cities in the world. Most cost effective solution is to stay out of it. :)

There are cheaper places in London to stay, I am sure.
Alternatively, seek accomodation just outside of London, and get the train in, but then the train is expensive too.
Or see if there is anyone in London off wp who could put you up for a night or two :P

A cab might be cheaper than the train, depending where abouts you are staying.

Thanks Mark 007. And welcome to WP.

Any suggestions for what to do and what to see in London?

Keep in mind I am extremely boring - I don't drink alcohol and I'm a vegetarian.
