What did someone manipulate you into doing and how did they do it?

Ex's have manipulated me into believing the preposterous things that they believe, through frequent repetition and demonstration of their rhetoric, and also into coughing up money for their nonsensical and wasteful purchases of future additions to the city landfill. It is simply a matter of their believing a lie and repeating it incessantly as though it were the golden truth set down in times forgotten and making it clear that my acceptance of this garbage was essential to retaining their continued goodwill.

2023, a hacker had the nerve to manipulate me into giving him my bank account passwords. however, the bank manager saved me from losing my $$$. thank buddha.

2004, a "friend" had the nerve to manipulate me into lending him my car keys. he said he'd come back the next day and he didn't come back. two months later, i found my car. since then, i have not trusted anyone else or even myself, so i have not had a car, so i won't be able to do anything wrong with the car.

2012, my "friend" cory had the nerve to manipulate me into taking community college classes (so that i could apply for internships that required interns to be students). that idea might've been good in a different situation, but it was also extremely ineffective and inefficient. not worth the time, $$$ and energy it took to get there.

Now why does that sound familiar?
Perchance, had they an obvious fake tan?
