Why Autism don't let you talk when you want to talk? I want to talk, not too often, when I do want to talk, I can't open my mouth.

Selective mutism, maybe?

I can't speak not all the time, but still a lot. I have been hard of hearing my whole life, I have some level of difficulty with translating my thoughts into speaking. But writing is easier, sign language too.

Why it happens? Fatigue, overstimulation and overwhelm, anxiety and stress...

Agrees with the above Posts .....Had often could not get my thoughts into words , often if i was able to get the words
out it came 5 mins up to a week later.

I'm not sure if it's select mutism for me but around certain people I freeze up. Like, people at work who I know don't like me or I strongly suspect they don't. There is a neighbor down the street who has given me a dirty look a couple times, I saw him talking to this other neighbor that I talk to now and then. Usually, I will stop to talk to the one neighbor, but I saw her talking to the other one I ran back in the house until they were both inside.

I suspect it's anxiety and bad experiences for many, I know that's usually why I freeze up.
