I don't like being around people my own age. I get along better with younger people. I'm not posting my age, because I hate my age, but I feel way younger than I am, & I do not share the same interests as people my age. I am kind of like a perpetual 12 year old. People tell me this is wrong, & that I need to fix it. They tell me to grow up all the time. It makes me very upset.
Ok, I'm through ranting. Sorry, I just needed to say all that. It's been bothering me a lot.

I'm 47, but I feel much younger.
I don't feel like acting like some of the 40 y.o.'s I know or meet.
I wonder sometimes if people think I'm just 'trying' to be young... the old mid-life crisis thing.

I've been like this my whole life though.
My daughter is the same way. Most of the other kids her age are trying to 'act adult'. She still has fun with her 'little kid' type interests. But she can hold a very mature conversation with most adults (surpassing some :P ).

I think a lot depends on who I'm with and what I am doing. With my daugther and her best friend, I can get as goofy as I want... they seem to like it alright, and I can just be myself.

With some of the adults at work, I can get away with being a bit immature because it's 'good for a laugh'.

I do get serious at times though. Problem is, I just can't get into the adult seriousness.
It seems as though once people reach adulthood, they acquire a new set of inhibitions, self-centeredness, power-tripping, etc.

That's when sitting around talking with a 3rd grader is more fun because kids that young are still quite literal, free-thinking, individuals... sorta like the folks here :P .
You can talk about toilet paper because there's no taboo on the subject.
You can talk about boogers because although you know it's 'not proper', it's fun and gross, but everyone has them... except folks without noses, I guess :?

I like to think that instead of making the kids sit at a desk listening to the adults... we should make the adults sit at a desk and listen to children! :D Damn straight!

I think I'm having a hard time tonight staying on topic...

I think you should enjoy your life. If you are of the adult age, then you are expected to accept certain responsibilities, but that doesn't mean you have to give up on having fun in life!

Look at people like Robin Williams, Steve Martin, and Jim Carey, just to name three.
They have certainly found ways to live the adult life and still have fun being 'crazy' or 'young'.

I just want you to know though, I am not suggesting you go out and be a comedian, get famous, earn lots of money and make movies.

You just do what you like to do and what you do best :D

I never got along with people my age, everytime I was around them I felt like a little kid, so therefore I would act like a little kid. I get along with kids who are like 15 or 16 haha, and I'll be 23.

My boyfriend thinks its hilarious when we go to bars or clubs, because I act so out of place, last time time I was at a bar/club I was walking around in circles staring at the strobe lights, walking up to random people and popping their collars haha, and then would jump up and down occasionally haha, people just assumed I was already gone lol, and called me cute. I remember walking up to this one guy and popping his collar and he smiled and said your adorable when your wasted. I was like ugh, then kept running around tapping people on shoulders and running away haha. Its soo funny. Its okay not to get along with people your own age.

What do you mean 'popping collars'?
Making them stand up?
Punching them?

This is a new one for me :D

lol, I meant I walked up to them, and a lot of guys wear collared shirts now, so I would walk up to them and pop up their collar so they would look like fanzi, or have you ever heard the song "poppin my collar" by I think three 6 mafia? I basically just popped their collar haha. I also punched some too haha, they just smiled at me haha. Being in a dark crowded room with a lot of people and having strobe lights, and loud music, makes me weird, I get all detached, and get that drunk feeling without even having one sip of alcohol haha.

I like getting that feeling without putting anything into my body. I don't drink much alcohol (extremely little actually), so most of the time... if I act like this around other people... they just back away from me and rejoin their little groups elsewhere  :P

haha, yea they do that too, or since I'm soo tiny, and young looking they think its cute. I don't know if you get the same feeling with lights also, but when I walk into a dark dark room after being in a very bright room, I get like that too, its very cool feeling, like every headache goes away, and all I want to do is giggle, its so funny.

I seem to get along with others A LOT older or A LOT younger than myself. It's not a problem for myself.

Im a natural drunk. I dont need any alcohol at all to behave like im drunk or on drugs. I think its sort of sensory overload, getting high on sensory inputs...

I don't get along wiht people my age a lot, either. Used to get along mostly with younger people, when I was a kid. Now I get along more with older people (I'm 21).

I'm the same way. I get along super with people older than I am.

Most of my work colleagues / good friends are in their mid 30's - early 40's which I do get along very well.
I've got a few select friends in their twenties, but I can count them on my fingers (literally).

It seems like everyone is the opposite of me.
I am terrified to be with people my own age or older.
I only feel comfortable with kids. (in a friendship way, NOT a creepy Michael Jackson way!)
I guess this is because I feel like a kid

As I get older, I worry more about what people will think of me if I show interest in kids.
I have always had fun talking to , playing with kids, as an adult.
Kids can be so literal, honest, curious and show pretty much none of the inhibitions that adults do.
That's what I wrote about in my post above...kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk( 8O kitten on the keyboard!)

Yeah I'm definitely a literal, free-thinking, individual.
There is nothing even remotely adult about me except my "age"
& did a kitty really step on your keyboard?! My kitty does that.
I love kitties!! !!

I missed this...

YES, a little kitten bravely strode upon my MacBook and hit the K key... do you think it had that planned? I know cats are diabolical and klever :D
