Do you ever worry about what your friends think of you? Sometimes I'm afraid of what my friends might think of me -- or if they might judge me in the wrong way.

Will they make fun of my clothes/personal fashion? What do they think about my personality? Do they actually like me for who I am? Things like that...

Are these thoughts a waste of time? Is it okay to ask your friends what they think about you -- if it might make you feel better about yourself?

Well, my friends know that I'm slightly weird but they just take account of this and then move on with life. They're still around.

Yes, but I won't usually allow myself to think that their oppinions about me are more valid than my own oppinions on myself.

While you can change behaviors that make it hard for others to be friends with you--such as social skills--you can't change who you are. Your friends will either accept you for who you are or they won't. If they don't accept you for who you are, as cheesy as this sounds, they aren't really your friends; and you should find another group of people to hang out with.

Indeed, I realize I need to be socally acceptible and I need to not always loose my temper and realize they might not have the same outlook on life, or be as smart about some things, or just things like that.

I used to be very riggid, everything had to be my way, I had to be in charge, it did not work obviosuly. Now I am always willing to negociate, have middle ground, i am willing to accept some things from them, but they need to be willing to accept things from me. I realize everyone judges, and I realize my friends are important, and I want to keep their friendship. I always dress acceptible, usually I dress very nicely, most fashion around CNY is aropostale and abicrobmie and that sorta 'prep' clothing. I go a different rout, I still dress nicely, but I have EMS stuff, still looks very nice and fashionable so I command the respect of others, but is more functional for what I do, i dont need clothing to look nice, i need it to keep me warm and dry when I go outdoors.

While 1 can be socally acceptible, one also cannot change who they are. Be worried about being seen as acceptible and who you are. Its good to be both an individual and at the same time fit into the mold as a good friend.

even so i never let anything anyone thinks of me bother me. i cant live like that, im just gonna be me and if someones got a problem with it than they are the ones with the problem. its a liberating feeling i tell yah not to let peoples dogma affect your life

I don't care what strangers think of me because I probably will never see the again...or atleast for a long period of time.
If I do make an aquiantence, or someone asks me if I want to go somewhere with them I will start to think of how I should act, what to say, what not to say etc. I want people to think of me as another human being, not a freak.
I do worry about what people who I see on a daily basis think of me...not so drastically that I would change what I wear or the style of music I listen to, but I try to hide some of my "quirks" as I have noticed that if people see me being my quirky self, they will avoid me.

4-5 months before I'm so worried about what my classmates think about me. I'm so concern about it.Then I started to realize I should not worry 'bout that. Completely a waste of time. But as what brittany 2907 posted, I tried so hard on how to keep a conversation going while I hang out with them.Sooooo Haaarrrd.
What I worry about is that a lot of NT's at school want to hang out with me,.. I mean I excel at school and good-looking.When this NT's invite me to go jam with them I used to make excuses a lot 'til they stop. They might actually think I dont like them coz I dont want to hang out with them. But that's not the case, I just find it really hard to go out with them with long conversational pauses.

Read my previous post on this matter? That's what a 'higher form' me would say... me in my current form though would say - all the friggin' time and it eats away at me.

jeeze man... not to break the thread, but I always have such a difficult time understanding your posts, or at least I have to read them slower then anybody elses. Heh, maby its easier or quicker to type for ya, but for us (or at least me I wont speak for anybody else) its much harder and takes longer, hehe.

I do agree with you, but also feel to an extent since my friends have a berring on me or who I am I do like them to think positivly of me so not only to I keep my friends but also feel better about myself if they feel good about me, make sence?

I have aquaintences, & most of them think I'm weird.

I don't care. I know people think I'm weird. I know people make lots of incorrect assumptions about me in their efforts to categorize everyone and everything in a simplistic manner. This probably happens to everyone. I don't really want friends because they'll just want something that I can't give them or want me to be something I'm not.

I cheat. I only make friends with people who like me as I am. Bwa-ha-ha!

I go out with my brother and his friends alot, well sometimes. I know they all try to make me feel comfortable and know of my AS but I still find myself worrying about saying the right thing, making the right social moves sometimes. I know they all make an effort to accept me, but I KNOW I'm different and sometimes I wish I could be more like everyone else but in the end I think we're all differrent from each other (AS or not).
