As a spinoff from the best places to travel to socialize, what are some of the worst places to travel and socialize? New York City is way too crowded for me. That was the first trip where I was actually glad to go home. It happened 1 and a half months before 9/11. I also wouldn't want to live in south Florida because it's too hot and too humid. Plus the only social thing to do in Miami is to go to nightclubs, smoke escatcy, and hit people with glowsticks.

Anywhere in the rural areas. Or the Adelaide hills at least. Too isolated, and there's too many jerks there like the kids at school.

Anywhere in Riverside or San Bernardino County, California. There's good places to find solitude here though.

The worst places to travel and socialize:
Citrus County or anywhere else in Central Florida.
Chloride, Arizona and its ilk.
That weird little 'town' near Death Valley that's ravaged by dust storms.
Death Valley itself.
The little shacks that lie just off of Route 66.
Anywhere in Kansas.

I'll think of more later.

Heh. Or anywhere in California. San Francisco's one of the worst places to go, though I'd have to admit the weather is rather nice. Cool, but not freezing cold, except for sometimes.

Well, someone said South Florida sucks and someone said Central Florida sucks. Guess what, so does NE Florida. Although I seem to avoid every hurricane, there is random thunder storms all throughout the fall, winter, and spring (especially fall). That, and traffic gets worse every year. It's now safe to say that all of Florida is terrible and over rated.

I love this post. I'd really like to visit all of those places, they sound great.

Chloride, Arizona, what a brilliant name.

I once stopped off at a place called Deposit, New York, which was cool.

Bet those little shacks rock.

Well, then, Florida in general sucks and we all know it. We do have some nice swamps here, tho'.

8O Ooooooo, swamps! I always wanted to see a real swamp like the ones you have down there, and take a boat ride through it and check out those massive, mossy trees with their branches and foliage hanging in the water! :D

My ideal social setting is either sitting around with the neighbors, or being an international jet-setter meeting WP members. Unfortunately, I only have the resources to do the former.

Pretty much all "glitz and glamour" places are bad for aspies to even go near. The toxic vibe radiating from them can be worse than Chernobyl. Here's a partial list:

    Las Vegas
    Los Angeles
    Atlantic City
    San Diego
    Miami
    Daytona Beach
    New Orleans
Older cities on the East Coast (between Maine and Virginia) are somewhat good for aspies, because of their historical elements. Chicago is ok too, as long as you stay out of the nightclub areas. Most newer cities west of Mississippi River are less aspie-friendly. The major exception among them is Seattle.

In England I'd say London because it's overcrowded and theres lots of crime because of people living in poverty.

Nice places are Stratford because of the history (shakespear), I would have said Birmingham before but now it's got the new bullring so it's got more crowded. Also generally people who live in the countryside seem to be nice too.

I would say the big cities. Like Los Angeles and New York City.

Personally, I like the anonymity that big cities offer. I live in a medium-sized town, and I can't even pop down the shops without seeing someone who knows me.

The only place in Florida I would care to live would be Tallahassee. It's one of my favorite state capitals. It's very hilly, nice tall state capital building, and a very nice college. Plus the scenery is pretty with it's southern charm buildings and canopy tree draped roads. Once you get past Chiefland, Gainesville and St. Augustine headed South, you aren't in the South anymore.

Northeast Florida is overrated. Heck, Jacksonville has the Jaguars, and no one goes to them anymore. They used to be good. Then they got beat by the Tennessee Titans and didn't get to the super bowl. After that, everyone thought the Jaguars were stupid. They practically have to beg people to come to those games now.
