One of the differences between me and my friend (who possibly has AS) is he's a lot more ongoing that me (he is never, ever shy and I'm always shy and quiet most of the time). Maybe he's probably borderline AS/NT or something like that.

Well how do you KNOW that he is not shy?
Have you asked him, "Is there ANYTHING you are not shy about?"

It is just that I've noticed all of the really boisterous outgoing-or rather, "speaking alot people" use this mechanism to divert attention from their shynesses and insecurities.

I'm never shy.
I'm the overly-outgoing/friendly/hyperactive person.
I'd rather be shy, though.
Maybe I'd annoy less people...

Ha ha, I'm always shy but I'd rather be too outgoing. People never like what they have ;)

I'm not shy, just incredibly awkward.
I tend to avoid talking in public, so I suppose I come across as shy, but it's really that I just don't know what to say most of the time.
