Character is dependent on many factors. We all should know here that it depends a lot on the good or bad wiring of you brain. But it depends also on many cultural factors: good or bad upbringing in terms of family, education and social extraction or background. Now, perhaps for reasons of recent experiences with people and for some introspection, I am thinking a lot about the influence of wealth or riches. This problem is never approached explicitly for various and obvious reasons, if anything else for fear of the IRS, possible requests of loans from “friends” or simple beggars. There is a good deal of reticence about your wealth or revenues. Now behavior is also in fact a product of wealth and nearly no one is completely candid about his/her wealth not even with intimate friends, with relatives, and even “consorts”. It’s a legacy of the social climate in which we live, and of the technical possibility not to disclose bank accounts and salaries. While humans are wired in the same way since at least 100,000 years, secrecy of bank accounts is a novelty of modern society. Secrecy about one’s own wealth is a formidable obstacle to sincerity in relationships. Or not?
